Press-ons vs salon gel, honestly
We're biased — so here are the numbers instead of adjectives.
The short answer: a salon gel manicure in Dubai typically costs AED 150–300 plus an afternoon, lasts 2–3 weeks, and comes off with drilling or acetone soaking. A handmade press-on set costs about the same once, lasts the same 2–3 weeks per wear with glue — and then you take it off, keep it, and wear it again up to 20 times.
Cost over a year
Gel every three weeks is roughly 17 appointments a year — AED 2,500–5,000 before nail art. Three or four press-on sets in rotation cover the same year for a few hundred dirhams, nail art included, because the art is already on the set.
Time
A salon visit is booking, travel, and 60–90 minutes in the chair. A press-on application is ten minutes at your kitchen table, whenever suits you — including 11pm before a morning flight.
Nail health
Gel removal is where natural nails suffer: drilling and long acetone soaks thin the nail plate over months. Press-ons apply to a lightly buffed nail and come off with warm soapy water — no drill, no acetone. Removed properly, your natural nails stay exactly as they were.
Where gel still wins
Fairness matters: if you want a wet-look manicure sculpted to your exact nail that never lifts at the free edge, a good salon gel is hard to beat, and some people simply enjoy the salon ritual. Press-ons trade a little of that permanence for reuse, speed, and keeping your natural nails intact.
